About Us
We are a religious corporation and not organized for the private gain of any person.  We are organized under the Nonprofit Religious Corporation Law primarily for religious purposes.  Our specific purposes are: (1) to establish and maintain a Church and to provide a place of public worship for its members; and, (2) to establish, maintain, and conduct a school for the religious instruction of the young, and to further other religious, charitable, and educational activities.

The above photo is of our iconostasis (wall of icons and religious paintings separating the nave from the sanctuary) taken during a memorial service to remember the parishioners from the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church who perished during San Francisco's Great Earthquake and Fire of April 18, 1906, which destroyed the original church building.  In 1965, St. Michael's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in San Francisco relocated its parish to this Seventh Street address - an existing Orthodox church - fortuitously found at a significant crossroad for our congregation.  Since 1965 there have been two more fires that imperiled the building but, if not for the grace of God, the building would have been lost as it was in 1906.  In 2008, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary, as well as the 100th Anniversary of this historic sanctuary.

We are the only Ukrainian Orthodox Church within 350 miles of San Francisco.  Please join our church and worship in the Orthodox tradition, where new immigrants and descendants of immigrants worship side-by-side.  We strive for our church to accommodate today's busy family life, while respecting our Ukrainian Orthodox beliefs and traditions.  Our goal is to provide spiritual renewal in a world of modern distractions.  You are always welcome.
